Ok CM, I have a Linksys 4 port router and the wires to go with it. My main comp is a Dell with Windows XP Home and the other is a Compaq with Window ME. What do I do to get this hooked up? (using the phone line at 3.4 - 4.0 mbps.)

I have the same router. The only trick is setting it up for L3... whichever PC you want to use for L3, you have to either configure the ports for pass-thru(the router has a built in fire-wall) or set up as a DMZ PC, with no protection. If you decide to use port forwarding, let me know...I'll tell you which ones to set.

'sob' 'sob' things have gone from bad to worse had to wipe comp and start again ok when comes to building comps im ok but routers are a new concept to me so not sure which to use port forwarding or DMZ I have Norton firewall protection so i could use that instead but it would be safer with port forwarding I guess OH HELL I dont know I'm all confused now  |

Ok I can do that DMZ bit but now Norton wont let me connect any Ideas ?
