I receive an E-Mail from Novalogic concerning what going on with side tought server.

My E-Mail to NOVALOGIC :

I would like to reporte that the Online game "side tought" for L3 is down now for a week. Is this a permanente decision from Nova or maintenance schedule work ?

I hope that Nova did'nt decide to close "side tought" server permenantely.



Could you inform me if it is the case so I can make an issue on the L3 communite forums of the situation .

NovaLogic is dedicated to supporting our community and products online and unlike other companies who completely drop all support for their online titles after 12-18 months, we are working around issues that arise to continue to do so.
In order to meet the projected demand for new titles, NovaWorld needs to revise the amount of officially hosted NovaWorld games.
The primary reason for this is to conserve bandwidth, hardware and operating costs involved in running NovaWorld, so that we can continue to offer you a quality gaming experience online, across a wider range of games.
Here is a list of the current games that are being affected by the NovaWorld revision. We will still provide official NovaWorld hosted games for these titles for an indefinite period of time.

This is a Reply post on FUSE Squadron community forum where I post " GOOD NEWS FROM NOVALOGIC" to Twister on the RIP of side tought.
Twister :Thanks for sharing the information, but in reading the letter, they never really answered your question about Side Thoughts. For all we know leaving only Lock N Load up fits their definition of leaving a server up. It's kind of stupid to leave up a 128 player DM game that no one uses anyway. If they want to do something useful then convert it to a RAW game. Why not bring back HCW if there will only be one server left? How much resources and bandwidth do you think one L3 game uses compared to say Delta Force? RAW certinly needs something bigger than a 16 player game.

"You are correct Twister in saying why living active the DM room instead of the RAW one. NOVALOGIC is still selling most of the old games and because of that they will continue to provide Novawold server for hosting. Gliching and lagging problems are easely understand by many players for cheating actions.

Concerning "side tought", I see only one last action to be made so that Novalogic could be more comprehensive on living the RAW game instead of the DM one. An it is a good wrighting minded "Petition" from a good majority of all the community L3 players. In my opinion it will be to Each Official Squadrons Leaders to endorse "one" "Petition" for all players representation in asking Nova to change the DM room that they still provide in to a RAW room. The idea is to give the possibility to all players of L3 to sign the requested need, not only the Squads member players.
If all the Squadrons Leaders whant to have a common RAW room provided by Nova for maintaining active the L3 "reality" and is multiple benefit, it is the time actualy, in my opinion, to reorganise in one strength the L3 players voice.

Beside there is maby a good reason for NOVALOGIC to have choose a DM room instead of A RAW one. In my opinion, since almost 2 month Squad Members were less view in side tought with there Callsing ID. Many of them were Using other AKA'S with no Squadrons ID. In reflexion, this is showing NOVA that L3 reality is weak.
Also, in proportion, there were more hosting rooms in public section for DM then there were for RAW in dayly basic use. NOVA PEOPLES THOUGHT, mayby, that what L3 players want is a DM room. Because NovaWorld needs to revise the amount of officially hosted NovaWorld games they choose to maintain the DM one.
So if we want to see the L3 game continue to be alive for those who want it, it is the time for all to make correct moves.
Each day there are real new players that come to Novawold and if we want them to join the community so the game could be vivified, we have to respond the right way so that happen. Squads members generation list on time depend on the amounth of strength that Squadrons teams will provide to preserve L3 game to continue.


The L3 game is not a best sellers anymore for Novalogic. And there probably more concern in first goal to make money then to give good improvement to the game that they bilt and sell.

Instead of complaining on that, I think that we have to deal with that reality and take out the best we could.

In my opignion, Official Squadrons are the reality that have maintain alive L3 game since 1999. Without Official Squadrons, that game would have been completly obsolete for many years now.
This is a call to solidarity within all serious L3 players that want this game to be and still be a room for friendshipp's in for ALL Fun And Game. "

P.S : "GOOD NEWS FROM NOVALOGIC" is the fact that they will continue to reconise L3 game indefinitely.
If side tought server is down, it is up to all of us to make the Resurection of it.
The webmaster of this Forum site had probably misunderstand my tought in taking off the title "GOOD" from "GOOD NEWS FROM NOVALOGIC"

Well eagle write em back and ask them to replace the 1 room they left with a RAW room. I think they did it this way so they can claim that no one is ever in there- and close it sooner. Get it through yer head man- nova wants this to end- now. They MIGHT leave a lobby to host your own games- but that will be the maximum effort on their part.

I am hardly a defeatist- ask anyone that knows me. I think i've done a lot to keep this game alive- training noobs, running off vets that are picking on them instead of helping, blah blah I have one of several L3 website full of tactics, procedures that can be read by anyone.

At one point- there was a lie going about that an L4 was in fact coming, and that the producer had been reading the forum, and was interested in me, and several others beta testing!! right....

As part of the crowd that was here from the very first day of L3 (and slightly before then)- I can say that we've all been here. A lot. So petition away....

KON, you got the point for dedication here, and there are no dought on my mind that I belive in "Sharing the best" instead of "Being the best without the rest".
And if this is still the reality of PR today, I will have the temptation to presente my candidature for joining this Squad because this is what I'm looking for.

If at this point there are no possibility for Squadrons to put down there griefs and bild a correct and polite petition, for request needs, all to gether with players signatures, including unsquad people, to Novalogic. Then I will present to Nova Rept my request to put back "side tought" with a 64 players server hosting capability to obtain at least a 32 room players.
But I'm sure if I receive from all actual Squadrons Leaders a note of representation for that request to Nova Rept, it will be more efficient.
Still, in my tought, I will be more confortable with this idea if it was someone else who have the "date recongnition" in Squad Leadershipp that take contact with Nova Rept.
I'm sure that Squads Leaders could come alone in Team Speak and talk together a way a round to choose the proper action in this crucial point.
I say crucial because no one at this time could say for what purpose Novalogic had take down "side tought".

Be sure to know that I'm not a man of free speculation.
In the past my nose never get me rong most of the time.

To replace NOVA Server in responsability it take more than good will. Because for doing hosting of that type it take, in my opignion, someone dedicate to put on, and make good maintenance, a server that could handle L3 RAW room for a long period.

But I think before doing that, we have to do everything possible to encourage NOVA to maintain his responsability. Taking NOVA responsability actualy will have as resulte a good an clear message send to NOVA on what they could expect from the communitys of old games to do less involvement. Money Talk Business.

In my opignion, if it worth someting, it wont be the last time for Nova Community to present is will to Novalogic Repts for Hosting survival purpose.
We dont know what was upon the Novalogic Repts to decide to put back "side thought" and "Lock N load" as goal.
The fact is it's Up Again !
And we are all Happy of that decision.
