Some of you may know this, some of you may not: I am huge movie junkie. It's really my number one interest. I enjoy all kinds of movies and have what I call "guilty pleasures"...movies that most people would dismiss as crap...but I love to watch. For example, I grew up watching and loving the "Creature Feature" movies, like "Taratntula"(Clint Eastwood's debut in 1957, incidentally), "Them", "Killer Shrews", "Mantis", etc, etc. So saying, I have movies like "Bats", Reign of Fire", "Resident Evil", "Pitch Black" in my extensive DVD collection.
So, we decided to give "1000 Corpses" a try. I have always enjoyed some of the stuff from Rob Zombie(who makes the best strip club music around, BTW)... So I actually had hopes that this movie would be a bit freaky and maybe even disturbing. Boy, was I wrong. This movie should be locked up with "Solaris" and "Dude, Where's My Car?" and shot into space.
The characters are stupid(remember Chris Hartwick from SIngled Out...?) The monsters/baddies are a joke. Even the gore is silly. Come on...nothing worth watching(except for a brief ass-shot of Rob's girlfriend, Sheri Moon). Zombie must be applying to the Adam Sandler School of "This is What I would like to see in a movie, who cares what people think".
Skip it, rent "Requiem for a Dream" if you want to be disturbed(and see what the director of the next Batman movie might have in store for us).
